Your wedding day has to be one of the most exciting days of your life, and I’m pretty sure most brides want it to be the day they look their most beautiful.

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of creating a bridal necklace for Amy to complement her wedding gown. The necklace was to be a backdrop necklace in a very minimal design. I was told that her gown had a deep ‘v’ to the waist at the back, and had embellishments of burnished silver and crystals at the front and on the shoulders.

Being a self confessed obsessive of glitz and glam, I was delighted to be invited to Lottie’s beautiful Bridal Boutique in Lytham St Annes for Amy’s final fitting of her wedding gown, and to discuss her necklace. I would then only have 4 days before the wedding to make the necklace to Amy’s specifications, and there would be no time to try it on before the ‘big day’.

I thought the best thing to do would be to create a couple of designs as a starting point from some ideas sent to me by Amy’s sister, Lottie. These could then be modified incorporating Amy’s ideas until we had the perfect design. I also decided to take a collection of pearls and crystals in different colours and sizes so Amy could choose what she was going to have in her necklace.

When Amy came out in her gown she looked absolutely stunning. A real ‘wow’ moment. It had a beautiful Grecian feel with layers and layers of floaty silk chiffon. Gorgeous! Of the 2 sample designs Amy decided upon a simple choker style. A small dark grey pearl and crystals sat at the front of the choker, and one long silver strand with similar pearls and crystals hung down the back. The Swarovski pearls were to be in white and dark grey, with tiny silver crystals either side of the pearls – just a hint of sparkle.

The following day I ordered the silver for the chain and by the Friday, I had the finished necklace in a gift box ready to be collected on the way to the wedding. I loved it! So simple and elegant. A little more time would have given me the opportunity to try the necklace on Amy in her dress before the wedding, but there was no time left… so it had to be perfect.

As you can see, Amy looked absolutely beautiful… and her jewellery was a perfect fit!
